WHO WE ARE: BRIANNA WATTS
Daughters
“Stay true to who you are. Seek God. Seek purpose and live within your purpose. It is so rewarding there. Live, learn, grow, and prosper. You are amazing! No one is you and that is your power.”
Q: What does being a daughter mean to you in 2020?
A: Being a daughter means bonding and connecting with my parents by making them proud, showing them how much I appreciate them, always being respectful towards them, bringing them joy, and being helpful where I can.
Q: How have the injustices against the black community impacted your view of family?
A: Family has always come first to me and the injustices against the black community have brought us even closer together. We are even more intentional in checking on each other, being there for each other, and celebrating with each other.
Q: How do you feel being a black woman in the world today?
A: This is a gooooood question and there are not enough words to express each of my feelings. I will share a few. I feel limitless as a black woman in the world today regardless of the odds that come against me. I am more empowered and inspired than I have ever been because I realized that there is nothing I cannot do. To see so many black women accomplish amazing things that were at first out of question is a big deal to me. I am so grateful to be apart and in the number of one of God's greatest blessings that is a black woman. I wouldn't want to be anything other than a black woman.
We always overcome. The world looks up to us.
