Gerald Law is a bass player’s drummer. Not only have I enjoyed doing live gigs with him, but I also had the pleasure of using Gerald on a couple of sessions. We did a cover of Aretha Franklin’s “Natural Woman“ that was supposed to be used for a live backing track, but the pocket felt so good that we decided to add it to Jazmin Ghent’s Cd (The Story of Jazz). That CD went on to win the 2019 NAACP Outstanding Jazz CD Award. So the consensus is you can’t go wrong with Gerald Law drivin’ the groove.
